Contemplation isn't easy for me. Well, it is if I'm contemplating what movie to watch, or what fried food I should eat. But contemplation on the holy, that takes some quiet. Some deliberation. This time of the year makes this quiet, deliberate space a little easier. It's a season of reflection over the year and how things have changed in the space between January and December. January rolls up its sleeves and rolls out the year and December sits back and looks at what really happened in the year. This year is no different, however, it's going to take some time to really see mercy in the ruthless and grace in the losses. Or not. Mercy never fails. It's always nipping at our heels wherever we go, whatever situation we find ourselves in. Lost. Gained. And grace... oh grace. Tenacious, gripping grace. We are always gripped by grace, may we take the time to be aware of it. To contemplate it.
